I'm thrilled that people read my blog and even posted comments. Its fun to interact with people this way. In the blog world , the blogger is like a celebrity, a star :).
Anyways life is very busy now. Boss thinks I need to do more and more to have a strong footing in the company. I kind of agree with him. In this IT industry or perhaps even in other industries in America the corporate philosophy in broad terms is "Perform or perish". Nobody is spared. It does not matter how many years experience you have or how much good work you did in the past. Its always the "NOW" factor. No living in past glory ..Sorry.
I havent been able to practice Yoga for the past couple of days.Lethargy for sure.
Okay folks , keep the comments coming.I really enjoy them.

My friend literally JUST got me blogging today. I did a google search for "indian in america blog", and there was your blog. I expected someone my age to be writing about the difficulty of being a child raised in an Indian family in America, but I was SO surprised that it was actually the parent that was writing. At first, I was going to move on to a different page, but then I thought...hey, maybe I can help.
My father came to America about 25 years ago as a chemist. However, he changed his career to IT, as the Y2K scare was ongoing and created many opportunities. I saw my parents through all the hard times, and now, fortunately, the good times too. Of course I will never be able to fully understand the hard times my parents went through, but I DO know a lot of it. Being the oldest of 2 girls, I had a lot of responsibility on my shoulders. Now, I'm graduating college and going to medical school this year, which is, for some reason, every Indian parent's dream for their child. Luckily, I'm good with science and it will make my parents happy and I have the ability to do it intellectually, so I decided...why not go to med school and make my parents happy?
Anyway, the reason I wanted to write a response is because you stated that you have a daughter, which I can definitely relate to. I just went back and read that you had already decided to go back to India. Have you already taken your wife and daughter and gone back? Let me know, because if not, believe me, there's plenty of hope that your daughter will grow up to be a respectable, educated, well-rounded young lady. I don't know if you watch Hindi movies, but in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Rani says one of my favorite lines in Bollywood history. 'Just because I lived and grew up in London (in mine and your daughter's case, America), doesn't mean I lost my culture and my traditions.' It's VERY true. Anyways, hope wherever you are, that you and your family are doing well. Personally, I LOVE LOVE LOVE my parents for bringing me to this country. I won't lie; there are some values that you lose, but that doesn't mean your daughter will go off and date when she is 12. In fact, I'm 22, and lived in America since I was 2 months old, and just NOW started dating with my parent's permission. If you haven't left the country yet, DON'T!!! It's harder for you, definitely. But I know Indian parents want what is best for their children, even if it is harder for them. SO STAY!! I have more things to say if you find these helpful, but there's no point if you're already gone. Hahaha. So post and let your "fans" know if you're still here!
Hey, where to Indians living in Cambridge actually hang out? Maybe this is a shot in the dark but I'm trying to spread the word about a research study on lie detection. For the few people who qualify, it's a pretty good deal... up to $575 for 6 to 9 hours. One has to be from India and living in the U.S. in order to qualify. For some reason, it's been difficult getting the word out to Indians living in America. If you have any advice for where to put up flyers or organizations to contact, please let me know. Thanks! Your posts are (or were) very intersting.
